Now that I've actually installed and tested I thought I'd post the final
result. Yes, the Digi RAS 8 multi modem board does work in Windows Server 2003. Windows sees each of the modems as an individual unit and can work with all of them. One thing that I was not aware of, and which has put a crimp in my plans, is that Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition supports a maximum of 4 modems for shared fax use. The additional modems cannot be used for Shared fax. Apparently Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition does not have this limitaion. Thank you all for your input on this. --David "Manoj K. Can you check the following - do the 8 modems show up separately in the Fax Management Console? If it shows up separately as 8 devices, they will work parallelly. I checked the digi.com site and found that this model supports Faxing, so that should not be a problem. -- Manoj K Jain[MSFT] Microsoft Printing, Imaging and Faxing This posting isprovided "AS IS" with no warranties and confers no rights. The fax software that I'm using must be the component of Windows 2003 Server. I assumed that it was installed as part of Exchange, but clearly that's not the case. Exchange is running on W2003 Server and the fax component was installed via Control Panel. --David "Hal Hostetler [MVP DTS]" wrote: The only sharable fax services Microsoft currently offer are part of Small Business Server and Windows 2003 Server. Is there somewhere that I'd be able to find documentation on this issue? Thanks, --David "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Most current Microsoft Fax products support only a single modem which cannot be shared. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "David G. I'm wondering if MS Fax is compatible with multi-modem cards, or if there is a limit to the number of fax modems that MS Fax can address. Thanks for your help, --David |
