Default Exel 2003 and Excel 2007 on same computer

Hi

I have Microsoft Excel 2003 installed on my machine.

I would like to install Microsoft Excel 2007 on my machine as well without
in any way interfering with Microsoft Excel 2003. I want to be able to use
both applications.

Is it possible to just go out and buy Microsoft Excel 2007 and install it on
my PC in the normal way without in any way interfering with Microsoft Excel
2003. Any pitfalls and any advice most welcome

Yes, you can do this. As a matter of fact I have 2 systems here that have
both Office 2003 and Office 2007 on them "side by side".

Since you already have 2003 on yours, 2007 will ask whether or not to
replace 2003 during the install and you can choose to keep (most of) 2003. I
said "most of" because only one version of Outlook can be installed, so you
will have to either choose to move up to Outlook 2007 or keep Outlook 2003.

After installing 2007, the default programs for opening various file types
as .xls and .doc will change to the 2007 applications.

Some of the applications will have to go through a "configuring" process
when you switch to them after having used the other version, this is
especially true of Word. This causes a big delay in using that application
for the first time after having used the other version - Excel doesn't go
thru this process.

You may want to set your Office 2007 applications to default save in the
2003 formats after you get it installed, just for convenience to yourself.
