Can I delete text in multiple cells of a table without deletingcells?
I'm using Word 2007. I thought this was possible before but I cannot
seem to delete text in multiple cells without getting the dialog box that shows up asking me to shift or delete the cells. I want the cells to remain but the text removed. It seems clumsy to have to do this one cell at a time. Thank you, Jodi |

Can I delete text in multiple cells of a table without deleting cells?
Select the cells from which you want to delete the text and then press the
Delete button and it will just delete the text (as long as you have not also selected anything outside of the table.) -- Hope this helps. Please reply to the newsgroup unless you wish to avail yourself of my services on a paid consulting basis. Doug Robbins - Word MVP "j.stammer" wrote in message ... I'm using Word 2007. Can I delete text in multiple cells of a table without deletingcells?
That's what I've been trying to do but it doesn't work. It works in
Word 2003, but in 2007 when I try to do that, it brings up a dialog box every time that asks if I want to shift or delete the cells. Is there some hidden option for changing the way tables are edited in Word 2007? Jodi |

This is strange. You should only see that dialog box when you press
BackSpace, not when you press Delete. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "j.stammer" wrote in message ... That's what I've been trying to do but it doesn't work. Can I delete text in multiple cells of a table without deletingcells?
New computer, new keyboard, new OS, new MS Office ... so overwhelming,
apparently I wasn't hitting delete! I think I'm going crazy going back and forth between v2007 at home and v2003 at work. Sorry to waste your time and thanks so much for your help. (now I'd like to delete this thread and make it go away) |
