Why can I not attach a pst file into an email (operation failed)
When I export my contacts folder to my desktop, (I want to attach it to an
email message and mail it to someone), the icon shows up as not being recognized by windows, and pointing to it reveals it is an office dat file (not a pst file), even though I selected pst file when I exported it. In my old outlook (2000), this icon was the small office logo, and was recognized as a pst file. Anyway, when I try to attach this file into an email message, I get "operation failed". Can anyone help please? Thanks. |

Because Outlook is still holding the file open after the export. You =
would need to shut down and restart Outlook before performing the = insertion. Also note that some versions of Outlook block access to .pst = file attachments. Better to put it in a .zip. --=20 Sue Mosher, Outlook MVP Author of Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.turtleflock.com/olconfig/index.htm and Microsoft Outlook Programming - Jumpstart for=20 Administrators, Power Users, and Developers http://www.outlookcode.com/jumpstart.aspx "STORM" wrote in message = ... When the copy completes, close the new PST (right-clickClose) and close and restart Outlook. You'll then be able to mail the PST, if security settings allow. If not, zip it up to mail or rename it to ".psx" or something and rename it again on the receiving end. -- Brian Tillman |
