Default how to deploy 2007 pro plus from server 2000

I've read the microsoft and technet articles related to this. I've copied
the files to a share on the server. I've created a config.xml file for the
install. I can't get the GPO editer to create a new package from the folder.
I want to install the proplus.msi, but it says there is a problem. It will
accept the officemui.msi. But, that doesn't work because I tried it.
I tried an install login script using \\server\share\office2007\setup.exe
and it wouldn't install. Then I tried to go to the install point from the
workstation and type the path in the run command line and it wouldn't
install. There has to be a way to do this. I even navigated to the folder
on the server and clicked on the setup.exe and it did nothing. I've got 50
computers to install to.
