Windows Live Mail
How can I disconnect Windows Live from my Outlook Express? I find it very
annoying when I try to send something and Windows Mail comes up. Any help will be appreciated, thanks. |

Windows Live Mail
Please clarify.
Outlook Express is a part of XP and earlier Windows versions. Windows Mail is a part of Windows Vista only. Windows Live Mail is a substitute e-mail client that /you/ download and install. (XP and Vista only). With that in mind, what is your OS, what is happening, and what do you want to happen? -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "g -rains" wrote in message ... I am using Windows XP and don't even know how Windows Live got on here

The I assume you are referring to Windows Live Hotmail and not Windows Live
Mail? (There is no Windows Live). Try making OE the default e-mail client. The first link may be all you need, but I included other options. Make OE the default e-mail client: http://www.oehelp.com/oedef.aspx For links in e-mail: http://www.oehelp.com/oelnk.aspx And: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306098 Restores OE to the E-mail clients list in Internet Options http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/oe_client.htm If you have MS Outlook installed, also see: http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#13 "Send To" and E-mail Links Do Not Work Using Outlook Express as Default: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306098 Multiple browser windows open when you click on a mailto: link: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/MailtoProtocol.htm Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Set Program Access and Defaults | Custom + Down Arrow | Select the radio button for Outlook Express. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "g -rains" wrote in message ... Windows Live Mail
Bruce, thanks for answering.
I am running WindowsXP media edition. I don't know how Windows Live took over my Hotmail. When I am at a web page and want to send it, I click on File, send... and then Windows Live takes over instead of my default mail, which is outlook express. I want Outlook Express to handle such e-mailings. "Bruce Hagen" wrote: Please clarify. Outlook Express is a part of XP and earlier Windows versions. Windows Mail is a part of Windows Vista only. I have heard of "Windows Live Mail", "Windows Live Messenger", "Windows Live Essentials", and "Windows Live Hotmail". I surely do not know what this "Windows Live" is that you speak of. Guessing it is "Windows Live Mail", but guessing is dangerous. Have you tried resetting MS Outlook Express as your default mailer? In Windows XP MCE 2005, it is listed as "Set Program Access and Defaults" in the "Start" menu. Try changing back to MSOE as the default mailer. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

Windows Live Mail
Yes Norman, it does seem to be Windows Live Hotmail. I have My outlook
Express set as default mail, but the same thing still happens. I guess I'll have to somehow uninstall Windows Live Mail and hope I don't lose everything. Thanks "NormanM" wrote: On Wed, 29 Apr 2009 21:19:01 -0700, g -rains wrote: How can I disconnect Windows Live from my Outlook Express? One more time: Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Hotmail are NOT the same
application. Windows Live Mail: http://download.live.com/wlmail Windows Live Hotmail: www.hotmail.com g -rains wrote: Yes Norman, it does seem to be Windows Live Hotmail. Windows Live Mail
Thanks so much Norman, I finally have aoutlook Express back as default as per
your instructions. I didn't have to go through the bother of uninstalling Windows Live Hotmail.
