Default I am sick and tired of these spams !

As I said before Mailwasher deletes them right of the server before you d/l
using OE. As Alias said it`s for you to decide which one to use.

Thanks to all of you !

But which one is better for me ?

I do not want these spams to download into my computer.

Thank you again.

Spam is here to stay unfortunately. How we control it is

a personal choice. My choice is using a program
called "Frontgate MX" I don't work for them. I just

believe it is a very good product and would not be without
it. I have tried other free products and evaluation

programs and have found this the easiest to use.

It's free!
YES! Frontgate MX is FREE SOFTWARE! It is not shareware,

nagware, addware, or spyware. The program is not a
limited version and it is not crippled in any way. You

can use it for as long as you like.

Hello everyone !

I need your help please as I am sick and tired of the
email spams I am receiving everyday. About 50 or 60
every day. A friend advised me to install Sp2 RC1 in

the
hope that it will stop them. But nothing. They keep
landing in my Inbox. I tried to set Rules from Tools
Message Rules and again they are not stopped. At least
if these spams are decent, I wouldn't be bothered much.
I have children. Please can anyone give me sound

advice
as to how I can stop them landing in my Inbox.

Thank you very much.

Only you can decide. Everybody else can offer opinions, but you have to pick
the program that works for you.

While I am at it, I will offer two free Naive Bayesian filter proxies. These
run in the background, and process the email when it is pulled through from
the POP server to MSOE:

K9:
http://keir.net/k9.html
POPFile: http://popfile.sourceforge.net/

I do not want these spams to download into my computer.

Unfortunately there is no reliable way to accomplish that. Some 10% to 15%
of the spam I see could be deleted from the server before download, but most
can't. All spam processing requires that you download some minimal part of
the message for local checks. If your spam handler can't get a reliable
indicator of the spamminess of an email, then you have to download the
entire message for a check.

There is no simple answer other than giving you examples of what you have
done wrong to get Spam in the first place. I get plenty of Spam on one email
address and NONE on others. My wife gets very little on her email addy. You
would have to change your email address and start over and avoid the bad
habits that invite Spam to begin with. Spam can be delivered by allowing
your email address to be passed on in several ways.

1) Maybe the number one way you address gets passed along is by other
people that insist on forwarding it to everyone in their own address book.
Certain people think they are doing a favor to everyone they know by
believing the what they read in a message with a little joke or helping hand
come-on that is designed to farm valid email address for the express of
Spamming. There isn't much you can do about this unless you explain the
rules to all your contacts.

2) Scan your system regularly for spyware.

3) Do not allow cookies to be loaded to your system

4) If you visit a trash site you will be Spammed

5) If someone else uses your system you probably will be Spammed.

6) Learn to use 'Rules' in Outlook Express and other such features in other
browsers if you use any.

7) After you change your Email address to start a new go to Spamex.com and
read how to use this remailer.

I am sure that others can add to this list of methods to avoid Spam.

W ell it appears we have someone with some knowledge on Spam Inspector.
Please explain why SI worked OK for me until my ISP required me to check
"This Server Requires Authentification" in the OE Account Properties, after
which I was unable to receive emails until I removed SI. I lost count of
the number of e mails for assistance on this problem I sent to "Giant" who
either ignored the requests for help or replied to reinstall the program
(standard response).

If Spam Inspector works for you fine, it worked for me once, but if you have
problems don't rely upon Giant to help you or you may be unlucky. I paid
for this program and I expect it to work, for me it doesn't, hence I advise
anyone to use another program especially as I now find there are many "anti
Spam" programs which are freeware and work as well., if not better, than
those that you pay for.

Please do not think because a program functions for you, in your particular
set of circumstances, it will function equally well for all. That simply
is not true.

Mailwasher works outside OE. Spam Inspector uses OE so you don't have

to
open two programs; in Mailwasher's case, open Mailwasher, clean mail,

OE
and
puts all of your spam in the Deleted Items folder.

That doesn't seem quite correct. Yes, you open MailWasher first, and

clean
your email. However, when you clean the email, you click the "Process

Mail"
button in MW; this should automatically open MSOE.

So does hitting the OE icon on the desktop or quick launch :-)

That said, I don't like MailWasher because of its promotion of the

abusive
"bounce" feature. I wouldn't use it if they gave it to me.

Spam Inspector will only bounce if deemed to be effective; otherwise it
won't.

Hello, I use Mailwasher from http://www.mailwasher.net/ it`s free.

Since when? It's "free" for only one email account.

It checks
your mail on the server without downloading it. Then you can choose what

to
delete of the server.

Download Spam Inspector from http://www.giantcompany.com/ You get a 14

day
free trial to see how it works. It puts 99% of your spam in the

Deleted
Items folder. It's worth every penny.
