Default retail purchased Office Standard 2007 product key contains "

My retail purchased (from a military base) Office Standard 2007
25 character product key contains a quotation mark " as the 3rd
character. Trying to type in Product Key as part of installation process.
Error message reads that quotation marks are not accepted... and yet.... it
is clearly a quotation mark (confirmed by family members)..... any
suggestions as to what is going on?

I have never seen a quotation mark in a product key. I'm not sying you and
your family are wrong, I'm just saying something is wrong with that number.

There have been cases where the digits were partially obliterated, and
people had to guess from from the portion that remained what the original
character was. If you have any other characters where some portion of it
looks like it might be a quotation mark if the rest was missing, try that
character where the quote mark is. Perhaps the top of a U might look like a
quote mark, or a Y.

As the error message reports, the Quotation mark is an illegal character in
a product key.

Since the product key is incomplete or contains erroneous characters, maybe
you need to return the package and get a replacement.

Buddyboy

I you purchased from a from a military base then you have either an Office
Enterprise or Professional Plus version of Office which is sold by the Military
through the HUP program. These versions have VL numbers and they do not contain
quotation marks in the VL Key numbers.
I would go back to the base and confirm your Office version and the VL Key number
which probably belongs to the military

Try all 26 letters of the alphabet and all numbers 0 to 9 one at a time -
one of them will surely work.
