Default Product Key thrown away with the packaging (!)

To replace a lost product key for a brand new Office 7 Pro suite, KB823570
says use the Product Activation Wizard to obtain the local support telephone
number. But I have not yet installed the software, it arrived this morning
and the product key got put in the recycling with the other packaging. Yes, I
know ....

From experiment with the trial version installed on the machine, it appears
that you have to enter the product key before you can activate the wizard.
The only other option seems to be to buy telephone support time, which would
cost about the same as the software did!

What is a boy to do?

If it arrived today then contact Digital River and explain and ask and see what they
can do for you

Hi, Peter, thanks for taking the time to reply - but why Digital River?

The assumption being that it was an MS online purchase from their Partner,
Digital River.
If it was a retail purchase, assuming you have proof of Purchase, ie a
receipt, then

As you have thrown away the packaging and serial numbers with it and the
fact that you have not installed it, I regret to inform you that there
is nothing you can do about it as Microsoft is in a business to seell
software and to sell more software to people who are careless or
irresponsible.

Hope this solves your problem for now but you can always buy another
Office 2007 and get free upgrade to Office 2010. Now this is a good
deal for you! Alternatively, you could start using OpenOffice for free
from: http://www.openoffice.org/

The assumption must be from someone who is jobless and completely
unemployable! If it arrived by downloads then what made you think that
there is packaging wrapped around it? You are only confirming that you
are a complete idiot around here!

Go and get a hair cut and get a proper job boy!
