Outlook 2003 & 2007 and Windows 7
Using exchange & OL 2003. Installed Win7 on a new machine. Previously was XP.
Installed OL2003 and I use a VPN to connect with server. Set up account as before, tried to connect & got "MS Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online...". Same computer, same Win7, same OL account info but if I try to connect using Virtual PC in XP mode, it works for both OL 2003 & 2007. I have searched MS support and can find nothing to fix problem of OL in Win 7. Any suggestions? I do not want to have to use VirtualPC. Thanks, Brad Johnson |

This should work in Windows 7 as well.
Have you applied Service Pack 3 and additional updates already for Outlook 2003? Which version of Exchange are you using? Is connecting via VPN your only remote option or are you also using RPC over HTTP (Outlook Anywhere)? -- Robert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more http://www.msoutlook.info/ Real World Questions, Real World Answers ----- "BradJ" wrote in message ... Outlook 2003 & 2007 and Windows 7
Hi Roady,
Under Win7, yes for OL2003 SP3+. Also under XP SP3, yes for OL2003 SP3+. Also, OL 2007 has SP2+ installed. Exchange 2003 VPN is only option when not on our internal network. What is interesting is when running Win7, Virtual PC in XP mode on the same machine, both OL 2003 & 2007 work leading me to believe the problem is with Win7 and not OL. I tried all of the regedit's, etc. to no avail. I can run OL 2007 in the virtual environment but I prefer not to do that. Any suggestions are appreciated. Outlook 2003 & 2007 and Windows 7
Hi Roady,
OL 3003 has SP3+ for both XP(SP3) and Win7 Exchange 2003 is used. Have to use VPN when outside our internal network. On the same Win7 machine, when running VirtualPV/XP Mode both OL 2003 + 2007 work. Leads me to think the problem is with Win7 and not OL. Tried all of the regedit suggestion. Nothing works. Any suggestions are appreciated. Outlook 2003 & 2007 and Windows 7
I was using OL 2007 with Windows Vista Home Premium. Had some problems
setting up accounts, but they were resolved, and OL had been working fine. Then I "upgraded" to Windows 7. I now cannot load OL 2007. I can still oad my email using Windows Live, but prefer Outlook. When I try to start Outlook, I receive the following message: "The file OLMAP132.dll is incompatible with MS OL. Install Outlook again." I have reinstalled OL 2007 several times, including safe mode; always the same result _ will not open. I am at a loss what to do. Any suggestions Bruce McAlister |
