Default Returning a laptop

I'm already having problems with new Christmas laptop and plan to
exchange. I purchased Office Student '07 and installed it on my laptop
and my son's laptop.

I was told I could only install it on 3 computers so how do I get
credit for the install which is going back to Costco.

The computer guy at Costco told me to call Microsoft and ask and I
spent quite a bit of time on their website but couldn't find this answer
and Microsoft makes it rather difficult to contact them.

Thanks for any help/advisement.

If the PC is returned/failed then so is the installation of Office, simply
install on new PC and use phone activation if neccessary

See DL's reply but also ensure that you uninstall the Office program from
the laptop that you return to Costco. If you can't uninstall it you may
want to ensure that the computer is returned to its "as purchased state" by
running the provided factory restore program. Also make sure that there is
not user identifiable data left on the computer. Another reason for
returning to factory delivered state. See Owners manual to determine how to
do this.
