Upgrade to Outlook 2003
I've just upgraded to MS Office Pro 2003 and got a shiny new Outlook. Very
nice but now each entry in my address book is duplicated; one showing an Email type of SMTP, the second FAX. For the latter the Email address is shown as JoBloggs@013155533 which is taken from the Business Fax entry. When sending an email, typing the correct name in the To: box fails to find the entry (first time around anyway) because they're duplicated. Very irritating. The contact details show just the normal Email so what's going on and how do I get rid of the FAX entry in address book? |

This is always the way the Outlook Address Book has worked.
Outlook considers fax numbers to be valid electronic addresses, since there are many client- and server-based components that can use such addresses. One method to hide fax numbers from the address book is to prefix the fax number with one or more letters (maybe B for business fax, H for home, O for other). If the fax number begins with a letter, Outlook won't show it in the address book. There are a couple of utilities that can help you hide fax numbers from the address book. See http://www.rsoutlook.com/us/rshifa.htm and http://www.sperrysoftware.com/Outlook_Solutions.htm (Hide Fax Numbers). Another way to avoid having fax numbers appear in the address book is simply not to enter data in the fax fields. Put fax numbers in some other (non-phone) fields. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "KeithTempleman" wrote in message ... I've just upgraded to MS Office Pro 2003 and got a shiny new Outlook.
