Fax Errors in Event Viewer
I'm working on a clients computer (remotely) and she frequently
receives errors while faxing. She has: WindowsXP Professional Fax Console Version 5.1 (build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519: Service Pack 2) I was under the impression she was using a all-in-one fax/printer/copier to do this but I don't know for sure, as I've never seen her system (I remotely dial in). I would have thought using the MS Fax console would require a modem and that it would not work with an external device, such as an all-in-one. I would have thought the all-in-one would have come with it's own faxing software...sigh.... She is not hardware/literate enough to understand my questions about her setup...so...the errors I've captured are below. Any thoughts on where I might start looking for problems? Event Type: Error Event Source: Microsoft Fax Event Category: Inbound Event ID: 32034 Date: 4/23/2005 Time: 12:29:43 PM User: N/A Computer: OFFICE Description: An incoming fax could not be received due to a reception error. Windows XP Fax can only work with an analog fax modem. She must have one
somewhere. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] wrote in message oups.com... I'm working on a clients computer (remotely) and she frequently receives errors while faxing. Assuming, therefore, that there is no all-in-one in play here, you have as
much information as you can get short of logging the actual transmission. Logging fax transmissions for Windows XP Fax requires extensive registry hacks. Transmission errors are bound to happen occasionally and even frequently if you have a line with a lot of noise. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] wrote in message oups.com...
