Invalid MSDN product key for MS Office Standard Edition 2003
After purchasing a laptop with a trial version of MS Office Standard Edition
2003, I was hoping to convert it to a permanent version with my MSDN Subscriber license product key. I got a product key for the Professional Edition which it says also should work with Standard, but when I enter it, it tells me it is an invalid key. Any help? Thanks much, Eric |

I should also mention that I was prompted for the license key following a
Windows Update including the Genuine Validation software. Prior to that I was using an installed version of Office 2000, not the trial version of Office 2003. When I looked online for help, it said one of the possible problems was that the two versions were not in sync, and that I should delete the older one so that they were not in conflict. I have already deleted the Office 2000 suite, but kept Outlook 2000 which still works and doesn't prompt me for a product key. I'm afraid if I delete it, the 2003 version will not work either. Hi Eric,
If your MSDN subscription includes MS Office 2003 then you can obtain a license key either online through http://msdn.microsoft.com or by calling the folks at MSDN subscription support along with obtaining the Office 2003 CDs through either method. ========== "Eric Manko" wrote in message ... NO. The key from MSDN will *NOT* work to convert your Office Trial =
version. And yes the Professional version will work with the Standard = version because it is the same key and will *ONLY* work if you = downloaded the Standard version from the MSDN download site. Since the = latter is not the case, the key that you got now is of no use. --=20 Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged.
