Default Folder list disappears when I move mouse

I'm using WinXP and OE6.

When I open OE there is a box labeled "inbox" and when I click on it all my
folders appear. So far so good.

But, when I move the mouse to click on a particular folder the list
disappears. This has just started and I've no idea why

Thanks

Your current Identity may be damaged, especially if its the default Main
Identity. Try one or more of your accounts in a new Named Identity
(FileIdentitiesAdd new identity). Assuming all is well, import messages
from the old Identity before deleting it (FileIdentitiesManage
Identities).

To avoid such corruption in futu

Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/maintain.htm.

Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.

Thanks, but a new identity didn't help. I have only 4 messages in the inbox
etc. And my antivirus (which is "Shaw Secure" from my ISP) doesn't seem to
let me disable the email section. I know I can always click on the show
"file folders" in the View menu, but I like to keep the screen uncluttered.

1. Is this the link you're clicking on, after opening OE?...

There are (number) unread Mail messages in your Inbox

....or are you referring to a link in New Mail Notification on WinXP's
Welcome Screen?

2. OE: View Layout Folder List = is this checked?

OE: View Layout Folder List = is this checked ???? No it isn't
checked.

When I open OE, it goes to my Inbox and there are the messages. Under the
toolbars there is a button labelled "inbox". If I click, it I then see my
folder list. But.... as soon as I move mouse to select a folder, the folder
list disappears.

I have to check the box, but I prefer not have an added pane open. And, I
used to be able to open the file list and click opn a file, so why can't I
now? I've already had issues with the disappearing toolbar in OE6 and the
non-existent spellchecker. And, if I look at the microsoft site none of
these thing are dealt with. But if I google groups, I find lots of people
have had toolbar and spellchecker problems. I think I'll got back to OE5.

You want the pane open but don't want to check the box to keep it open?

I was looking at all the OP's posts and tried to replicate
what he wants to do. He says that he could click on the
Inbox button on the Toolbar and that would make the folder
list appear. Clicking on the Inbox button only brings you to
the Inbox if you are in a different folder and the Folder
List is already open. Which is kind of redundant since it is
just as easy to click on the Inbox as it is the Inbox
toolbar button.

I don't know if we are missing something, or he isn't
explaining the situation well enough.
