Default Vista Ultimate and Visio 2007 Pro Install problem

Am trying to install Visio 2007 Pro onto my Vista Ultimate laptop. When I run
the installer, it gives me an error message that the file: visprrWW.cab
cannot be found. I looked at the CD, and the file shows in explorer, it also
shows up in the MSOCache folder for the install. When you browse to the
folder containing the cab, and tell the installer that it is there, it
replies that it is not, and cancels the install. I would appreciate any help
with this issue.

Thanks

It sounds like either the CD is not reading cleanly, or the drive is not
reading it consistently. One way around this is to copy all of the files
from the CD to a local drive folder, and try running Setup from there. If
you get errors during the file copy operation, then I would suspect the
media.

If you need to request replacement media, you can call the replacement

Default Vista Ultimate and Visio 2007 Pro Install problem

Barb,

I am having an issue installing Visio Pro 2007 on a XP Pro SP3 machine. I got
the following error in the very first step after I validate the key and click
continue. There is no additional information, all I can do is close and exit
the setup.

“Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2007 encountered an error during setup.â€

Given below are the MS software’s I have installed in my machine.

• MS Office Professional Plus 2007
• MS Visual Studio 2008 Pro
• MS SQL Server 2008 Dev
• MS .Net Framework 1.1 ... 3.5
• MS Office 2003 Web Components (I don’t know how I got this, it came with
some other MS stuff)

BTW, I downloaded the latest Visio kit from my MSDN subscription.

I would really appreciate if you could help me troubleshoot this issue.
I am desperately in need of Visio for a new project.

Thanks a lot.

Default Vista Ultimate and Visio 2007 Pro Install problem

I've downloaded the Visio Pro 2007 ISO and tested with Vista, and I'm not
seeing any problems. It's possible that the download ISO file has a
problem, or that the burn to disk had some problem.

In these cases, we would suggest re-downloading the ISO, and ensuring that
the verification step is complete. Then try burning a new CD to install
from.

Default Vista Ultimate and Visio 2007 Pro Install problem

I have the exact same problem as Copsmart while trying to install Visio
Standard 2007 on a Vista machine with all service packs installed. Is there
any resolution that anyone has found? I have copied the CD to my disk, tried
installing on two different (but identically configured) computers, etc. Nada.

Default Vista Ultimate and Visio 2007 Pro Install problem

Barb,

I have a brand new retail distribution of Visio 2007 standard. I try to
install it on both my Vista Ultimate desktop and laptop - similarly
configured with the latest upgrades - and I get this error message each
time: "Viso 2007 encountered an error during setup". I copied the files to
my hard drive with no errors. There are no scratches on the CD. I get the
same error in all scenarios - hard drive install, CD install, 2 different
computers.

I am planning on returning the software to Microsoft for a refund unless I
can get some help.

Default Vista Ultimate and Visio 2007 Pro Install problem

We provide free tech support for installation issues. I suggest that you
take advantage of it to help you troubleshoot the install issue - there is
no reason that it should not work, especially when you can tell the CD is
being read okay.

You can start online here
http://support.microsoft.com/common/...11389&acty=Sta
rt&ctl=Region&wf=Workflow&rdpath=1, follow the prompts, and you will get
to a screen which explains how to create either a web case or a phone case
- your choice.

You can also take a look at the installer logs, which will be in your Temp
folder (generally C:\Temp, but you can use %temp% to be sure). For normal
installs, the information logged is not very deep, but you might see what
the messages are - and there is an article on the knowledge base about
capturing / reading log files that may help :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/826511/

If you have the time, I suggest using the assisted support - they will be
able to work with you interactively to find and correct the problem.

Default Vista Ultimate and Visio 2007 Pro Install problem

Barb,

I would have thought that Microsoft would supply free installation help, but
I have followed the link below several times, gone down all of the paths, and
get to support options - and EVERY ONE OF WHICH REQUIRES PAYMENT as far as I
can tell. I can find no way to open a support request without some sort of
password showing that I have an account.

I can't find my log file. I have a c:\temp, but it is empty of logs, so
probably it is somewhere else. I know I should enter %temp% into some search
capability, but the Vista search never seems to work for me - probably I fail
to understand it.

So where does this leave me?

The support for installs is free, I believe you need to have a 'passport'
(which is also free) id to open the incident on the web. Should not prompt
you for a credit card, just needs to register an email ID (Live, Hotmail,
MSN, etc.) so that you can be located in the system.

Alternatively, call the phone number ((800) 892-5234) for phone support,
and create a free installation case there.

Note that I am talking about Office / Visio installation support for retail
products. If your computer has an OEM version of software, the provider
supports it. If you have downloaded software from Office Online or bought
it on the web or in a retail store, the support is included for install.

Hope that helps.
