Clear the "Recent Files" list in the hyperlink window
Sonia, That almost sounds like your editing the Windows recent files list and not Powerpoint. In the same place you can edit the recent folder list, recent template list (four items there) even the recent animation list. I use it from time to time to clear everything out. Whenever I have a new class and all the old files they have used have been deleted the names still remain in the list and when you click on them you get an error message. The only disadvantage I have is that when I cleared all the names in the list there still remains one entry a solitaire number one. I have done this at home and at work it always works. Strange that it does not do the trick for you. Luc "Sonia" schreef in bericht ... Thanks, Mike. That makes perfect sense. However, I tried Luc's method and it didn't work for me. There must be some other stashed list that I can't find in the Registry. My Recent Files list has 46 files listed, which seems to be everything I've ever opened in an Office application since I recently reformatted. That includes Access, Excel, Word, and FrontPage. If it doesn't work for you, you might try opening about twelve innocuous files in PowerPoint to force the list to only display them in the first portion of the list. The student related files will still be in the list, but they won't be seen unless you scroll down the list. "Mike" wrote in message ... More to the story. When I am showing my students (8th grade) how to use PowerPoint, I am actually conducting the class using PowerPoint, showing them the steps on the big screen. I have all my students' academic and discipline files that I have recently accessed on that computer. When I get to that point and click the "Recent Files" button, my students see their names on the "Recent Files" list and I get a plethora of questions about why their names are there. Just wanted to know if there was a way to clear that list. -- Thanks "Sonia" wrote: I'm not sure that I understand. If you want to see nothing, what good is the "Recent Files" icon to you and why do you click on it if you want to see nothing? Just don't select it. There must be something else to the question. Clear the "Recent Files" list in the hyperlink window
I do agree that the Registry Key controls the list of most recently opened
PowerPoint presentations. By clearing it you clear the list of files in the New Presentation task pane under "Open a presentation", and the list on the File menu that appears just after Properties. However, Mike is describing a different list. When you select an object and then go to Insert Hyperlink, a dialog appears and there is a button that you can click that is labeled "Recent Files". This is the list that he is trying to clear and it is not controlled by the Registry key - - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\P owerPoint\Recent File List. "Luc" wrote in message ... Clear the "Recent Files" list in the hyperlink window
That worked for me, but because of the way my network is set up, I had
several different users listed and had to clear the Recent folder in a couple of them before I found the right one. --David -- David M. Thanks, Shyam. I discovered that one yesterday and thought I had posted about
it. I think I wanted to test it further and then just didn't get the testing done. "Shyam Pillai" ShyamPillai @Gmail.com wrote in message ... Apparently this is one of those "Special" folders that MS hides from Explorer's search command.
