Default How do I prevent a line break between em dash and closing quote in Word 2004 for Mac?

In Word 2004 for Mac, how can I prevent the line from breaking between an em dash (representing interrupted dialogue) and the closing quote that follows it? I can't insert a non-breaking space, as there isn't a space. Here's a bit of the text:

"But we did think it should’ve been sooner than this, and—”
