Default my e-mail messages stay in the outbox and won't send

I would like to use Outlook as my e-mail in Office 2003 but my messages are
staying in the outbox and I am not receiving messages. My ISP is high speed
intenet (COMCAST) and they have checked and say that my connection is
working. Can you help me. Everything worked previously but has not worked
since December of 2004. I have tried reinstalling office, disconnected my
security setting as well and that still has not helped. Can someone help me
please?

Vince,

I am having the same problem with a twist. Maybe we can help each other, or
find someone here who has already figured out what's up. I have two computers
and the problems are slightly different on each.

On one computer I can click the Send/Receive button and it will send and
receive email. However, when I click Send from within the email it goes to
the Outbox and stays there until I click Send/Receive on the toolbar. The
settings for sending when connected are noted properly.

On my other computer I seem to be having the same problem as you describe.
I can click Send/Receive and get no action. The screen seems to blink, then
the "send/receive" completion note is at the bottom of the screen, but it
neither sends nor receives email.

I have Outlook 2002 SP3. I have deleted and re-added my email account to
Outlook in both computers. I have double-checked the setup of the account
with my daughter who also has Comcast/Outlook.

I have checked the knowledge base and have found 2 articles which seem to
pertain, but my clicky boxes are already clicked as per the solution
instructions.

Vince and "itsmerox". I do get an error message after I push the
send/receive and according to the message from comcast they are sending it.
The message says to contact my ISP which I do, -that's Comcastand they are
saying that all connections are working that the problem is in my computer as
my husbands e-mail using Comcast in the same household is working just fine.
So I reinstalled Outlook 2003 again, I deleted my old e-mail account and set
up a new one with the proper settings (Comcast verified it)....my next things
is I am going to reinstall my Windows XP with service pack 1a that came with
the machine. Dec of 2004 I updated to Service Pack 3 and it seems that
right about that time I started having problem with my e-mail. My husband
did not install service pack3 so maybe that's it. I appreciate that there
is someone else out there to try to problem solve this with me.

Can you post the exact text of that message?

Hi Brian: here is the message: Task' mail at Comcast-Sending reported error
(OX8004210B). The operation timed out waiting for a response from server.
If you continue to experience a problem contact your Internet Service
Provider (ISP).
end of message........I have checked many times and Comcast says there is
not a problem with the connection and indeed my husbands emails are coming
through and we are on the same modem and router (we have done the double
check on the router as well).......now this morning I got another message
which I have not seen before- it is as follows: The server responded
OO4.23.73 has too many connections(the two 00's should be square in shape
connections (2) or rwcrmhc11'. I had several old emails open and pushed
the send button several times so perhaps one old e-mail that was in the
outbox was opened twice and was trying to send at the same time. All my
problems started in December of 2004 before that everything worked - do you
think this may have something to do with updating to Service Pack 3 under
Windows? Still Desperate

I don't think this is a factor.

Windows doesn't have a Service Pack 3. Outlook 2000 and 2002 do, though.
In any event, I don't think it's related.

If I were in your shoes, I'd start over with a fresh mail profile. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=287072 . However, instead of creating a
new PST, you can point the new profile at your existing PST with the Data
Files button.

Pooh is my favorite and I am feeling like Eeyore when I report that I clicked
on the link and it does not work for me. I will try again though. I should
let you know that in the past I tried uninstalling my firewall and it did not
solve the problem. Even though Pooh is my favorite - I am feeling like Alice
falling down the hole - getting deeper and deepter and more confused.

"Bother," said Pooh as he struggled with the computer.

"It never does quite what I want."

"I wish Christopher Robin were here."

I have tried the link again (three more times actually) could there be a
character or letter mistyped by chance?
