Upgrade to Office Professional partly fails
I started with the Full version of Access 2007, Student Office 2007, and
Outlook 2003, on XP SP3 plus full critical updates to date. I installed Office Pro 2007 as an upgrade, with the following results. 1. CD 2 for the Business Contact Manager failed to install - log files available. I tried this right after CD 1 finished and again after getting a full set of updates for windows and office. Same failure in both cases - "--------------------------- Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 --------------------------- Setup failed to install the required component Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express (MSSMLBIZ). Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 cannot continue. See C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Summary.txt for more detail. --------------------------- OK ---------------------------" 2. Items in the Student edition, i.e. Word, Excell, and PP, still show the 'not for commercial use' heading. 3. Outlook is now very slow to start up - 5 - 10 minutes on a 3 gig dual core system nothing else running. Anyone any suggestions re any of these problems? -- petermat PS it was also today I found an Access app of mine no longer works under the 2007 version - a function in Access 2003 has just been dropped - no warning message, just crash!! Not been a good MS day! |

Also --- I should have been more specific re the delay with Outlook. The
problem is not the time for an Outlook screen to apear, but having selected a mail folder (e.g. Inbox) it then takes a very long time before the content of the selected mail item to apear. The list of items in the folder is quick, but I just get an hourglass (well a 5 minute glass) until eventually the message portion of the screen stops being blank and shows the message content. This is not because of an attachment. -- petermat "petermat" wrote: I started with the Full version of Access 2007, Student Office 2007, and Outlook 2003, on XP SP3 plus full critical updates to date. Not been a good MS day! You will need to remove the Home and Student version to remove the non-commercial tag. That may also be part of the issue with the Pro installing. If I were you, I would uninstall all parts of all versions of Office 2007 you currently have installed. Ensure that it has all been removed and all files have been removed from Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 12. Reboot the computer and attempt the Pro install with the Pro activation key. Then try BCM install again. Don't forget to upgrade to SP2 after the install. |
