Default Pie charts won't work porperly

When i try to create a pie chart two things happen.
First, the chart is created all ni the same colors. Even
with "vary colors by slice" selected, the chart is all one
color.

Second it is created such that it's default size is very
tiny and almost impossible to resize.

I don't know if this is related, but when I try to create
charts of any other type, the axis titles automatically
default to titles that were used along time ago, before a
reinstallation of windows.

I'm running windows 98.

Thanks for any help.

Mike -

Sounds like you have some undesirable user defined chart types. Here's
how to get rid of them. Select any chart, and select Chart Type from
the Chart menu. Click on the Custom Types tab, and select the User
Defined option. Select an offending chart types from the list and press
Delete.

When you make a multiple series column chart, are all the series the
same fill color? If so, you may have to adjust Excel's color palette
too. Select Options from the Tools menu, and click on the Color tab.
You can select the colored boxes one by one and click Modify to modify
them, or click Reset to bring back up Excel's default palette.

Now you should be able to apply the built in types.
