Default Access 2003 very slow

I just got a new workstation with v. 2003 and Access is slow. Click..wait 5
seconds.
Dragging fields onto forms takes 5-7 seconds.
My database was originally designed in 2002.

Any ideas to improve performance?

Oh Yes. Go to Tools, Options, General tab. Uncheck Name AutoCorrect.

If that doesn't help, have your virus program not check .MD* files.

Something is wrong..very wrong..

Work your way through the following list:

http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/performancefaq.htm

In addition, if your default printer is a network printer (that might be off
line), then setup a default printer that is local (I have a pdf one I use).

Also...is a network involved (a HUGE detail to leave out by the way), then
you need to try the persistent connection trick....
