Default Outlook 2003 doesn't maintain window sie after closing and reopeni

After restarting Outlook 2003, the window size for New, Reply, forward etc.
is full screen but not maximized. It is not the smaller size of the window
that I last used. the only way to make the screen smaller is to alt-spacebar
and resize. The proper sizes will last until I close Outlook, but won't be
maintained when I re-start. I hav to alt-spacebar and resize every time. this
is new behavior after I re-installed on a new computer, updated to 2003 SP3.
Any suggestions on how I can get the window size to be maintained on re-start?

when you close outlook is it left running in task manager? that's the usual
reason for changes not sticking.

Diane

Thanks for the reply. No, Outlook does close and is NOT in task manager
after I exit and the changes to the window size still don't stick. Any other
suggestions?

Did you examine the Processes tab for "outlook.exe"? The Applications tab
is not a good indicator of what's running.

Brian

Yes, I only looked in the process tab and watched while Outlook and Word,
which I use as email editior, both closed.

Any other suggestions as to why the window sizes wind up being maximized on
re-start instead of the last size being retained?

Have you tried resizing the windows again and then used Ctrl-double-click on
the icon at the left end of the title bar to force Windows to record the
attributes?

I appreciate you suggestions. I just tried ctrl-double click as you
suggested. It didn't work. The "new", "reply" and "forward" windows were
still maximized when I restarted Outlook. The size only gets maintained until
I close Outlook. Short of uninstalling and re-installing Office, is there
anything else you think might work?

Before you said "not maximized but full screen", meaning to me that it was
not as though you clicked the maximized button, but as though you dragged
the borders to the edges of the screen. Here you say maximized. You
haven't changed your meaning, though, correct?

I've never seen this and I can't think of anything that would be causing it.
Sorry.

Brian, sorry for the confusion. The screens would come up maximized, one page
image between the minimize dash and X in the upper tight hand corner.
Clicking the middle page button slightly reduced the size of the page, but I
would then have to alt-spacebar in order to re-size the window, or drag if I
moved the scren slightly to catch the edge of the page. Outlook would not
maintain the new size after closing the applicaiton and re-starting.

Anyway, I really appreciate your trying to help. If I figure it out I will
add a post to let you know. Thanks again.
