When checking the spelling in Outlook Express (MS Office XP Dutch) it
sometimes stops at a "misspelled" word. 1. The word was NOT misspelled. 2. The new suggested word = exactly the same as the so called misspelled word. I can choose to "change" or to accept the "misspelled" word. What's the logics of all this hotch-potch? -- regards, |\ /| | \/ |@rk \../ \/os mccm dot vos at hccnet dot nl URL http://home.hccnet.nl/mccm.vos/ ICQ 326628 |

Hi Linea,
This group is for questions concerning Microsoft WORD. Outlook Express is part of Internet Explorer. You should address your question to a more appropriate group. Hi Suzanne,
But Outlook Express uses the Office proofing tools, and the user may be using Word as the email editor. For Outlook EXPRESS? I doubt Word is acting as the email editor, I don't think it's supported :-) That OE might be using the Office proofing tools, yes. But how they work in the DUTCH OE should be addressed in the appropriate newsgroup. Cindy Meister |

OE does not have a spelling checker of its own. You can't check spelling in
OE unless you have external proofing tools. Here's what Help in OE 5.5 says: To check the spelling in messages Outlook Express uses the spelling checker provided with the following Microsoft Office 95 and Office 97 programs: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. If you do not have one of these programs installed, the Spelling command is not available. * In the New Message window, click the Spelling button on the toolbar, or click the Tools menu, and then click Spelling. Tip * To customize the way your spelling checker works, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then select the Spelling tab. -- Suzanne S. Hi Linea,
Outlook Express uses the spelling from MS Office XP (as I indicated in my message). I thought YOU of all people would know that... :-( Well, let's see. 1. I never use OE 2. This is a WORD, not an office group 3. And this group does not specialize in spelling questions So, I still suggest you find a group appropriate for your question. If you feel it should be answered in a Word group, I recommend doing a GOOGLE search on the word.spelling.grammar group. But you do have to realize that the spelling TOOLS are something completely independent of the Word interface. And each application that uses them does so in its own way. Not only that, but the LANGUAGE interface can also influence behavior. So it might also be a good idea for you to check the DUTCH Knowledge Base for problems and fixes concerning the Office proofing tools.
