Default Office 2003 won't read available space correctly on new 1.5 TB hdd

Just replaced crashed hard drive on a Dell Dimension 8300 with a seagate 1.5
tb hard drive. Windows XP installed no problem and disk management says
drive is health. When I try to install Office small business edition 2003
the install wizard says "space available: -652 gb, space required: 581 mb"
and then won't install. Actual space available is a little over 1.3
tb....what's up with that????

Any help is much appreciated.
