Could I get the correct way to format cells in Excel 97
SR2 to include text and numbers? For example, I need the string L1234567891 to show as L-123-456-7891. Thanks for your help |

AFAIK you can't do it by format. However, you could use a formula: =LEFT(A1,1)&TEXT(RIGHT(A1,LEN(A1)-1),"-###-###-####") I'm assuming a single prefix letter. -- Regards Norman Harker MVP (Excel) Sydney, Australia "Jean" wrote in message ...
