Default %20 issue when saving office 2007 doc in Vista with # symbol in fi

When saving any document with a filename # with a space before it, it will
always put in a %20 symbol. Here are the steps to reproduce on any machine
with Vista and Office 2007

Open Word and type in a few characters and save the document as 'PO # 12345'
... without the quotes.

Then close out of Word and then open the document again.

Do a Save As and you will notice the filename it wants to save is 'PO%20#
12345'.

This applies to Word, Excel, etc 2007 with Vista. Whether the document is
saved in compatability mode or as native 2007. This does not happen with XP
and office 2007.

Even if you send this word doc in outlook. If you right click on the
attachment and do a save as, it will also add that %20.

%20 is the code for a space right? Is there any way around this to it dosnet
do that?

HELP!

Thanks

I see what you're seeing, and it certainly looks like a bug. In fact, I
don't even need to close the document. Once I've saved it, an immediate Save
As exhibits the %20 problem.

On the other hand, when I do Save As while editing a previously saved
document, it's usually because I want to save it under a new name. So, on
the plus side, at least this doesn't prevent you from saving edits to the
file under the same name it was opened as.

Normally, %20 is hex for a space. Inserted into the file name as it is,
however, it's not interpreted that way, and the Save As file name contains
%20 (3 characters) rather than a space. Definitely a bug.

I don't see this bug when saving from Notepad or other non-Office
applications.
