Default Rank column with changing # of rows

Is there a formula that will Rank even when rows are added and deleted? Currently I am using =RANK(C8,C8:C43) but when I add or delete rows it throws everything off. Please help :-)

To modify the formula, you need to tell us what you want to happen to the
