Default can't change right margin

When I go to page set-up and change the page margins (I like smaller margins), the right margin stays at 1" (or is it 1.25). In the Page Layout dialog box it SAYS that the margin has been changed, but on a page full of text it's pretty obivous when one margin is at .7" and the other is not.
I believe that this lies at the root of the problem I have aligning business cards and post cards, as well.
what should I do?

Have you tried right aligning r justifying some text and printing it out to
see exactly where the margin is.

If the text is left aligned, the word wrap feature could the stopping the
text from running all the way to the margin.

Business cards and post cards (if you use the "label" definitions in Tools |
Envelopes and Labels) are set up as a table. The width of a table does not
change when you change the margins; you have to manually modify the column
widths.

Thanks Doug. Yes, I just did that, measured it with a ruler. Guess what? It's 1.25" whereas I set it to be .7"
