Default How to define the program used by a hyperlink

I often use hyperlinks to jump from my presentation to other files.
Setting the hyperlink to a WORD-document, the document is opend by WORD.
Setting the hyperlink to a picture, as for example .jpg, the document is
opend in a web-browser.
How can I define, that the jpg-file is to be opened by a certain
graphic-program and NOT by the web-browser?
Thank you for help!
