Default "Publisher cannot complete the operation" error message

Has anyone found an answer to this problem yet? I've got the same situation
in my lab(s) running W2K and Office 2000 with all the latest on both.

"discgolfdc" wrote:

I just upgraded to Microsoft Office 2003 Pro. End of problem.

Doesn't seem that anyone has a hard-and-fast answer to this.

Good Morning,
Same thing here. Windows 2000 with all current updates; Office 2000 with all

I also cannot access the personal information. However, everything works as
advertised when I log into Windows as administrator. Running a repair did not
help. Just one of those little annoyances that bothers the heck out of me;
any ideas? Thanks, I appreciate it.

Microsoft Office 2000 is the only version running on the computer, and it's
upgraded to the latest and greatest service packs available for it.

What I don't understand is why it would suddenly decide not to run after not
having changed anything.

Try a repair from the control panel, Add or Remove Programs.

Okay, I renamed the PubWiz folder "PubWizOLD" and then I did an installation
repair of MS Office 2000 pro Disc 2. I saw that it replaced the PubWiz
folder, and I got all excited, until I started Publisher up again, and found
that it didn't change anything. It's still doing the same
thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't get it!!!!! I JUST used it the other night to do a newsletter. It
went down without a hitch!!!! What the heck is happening here?!!?!?!?!?!

Greetings... I am a new user to this forum, but not afraid to "get my
hands
dirty," if you understand my meaning. I'm not terrified of registry edits
or
the like!

I realize this may be a question of "legacy version" proportions, but I am
currently using MS Publisher 2000 with all available updates of which I am
aware (and I do keep up). I've updated to Office 2000 SP3.

For some reason, when I start Publisher, and the "Publisher Catalog" Wizard
comes up, if I select any type of publication to embark on, and I mean ANY
type of publication...Brochure, Newsletter, etc. ... of ANY variety or
design, Publisher begins to make like it's "changing your publication"
(with
the little blue progress bar and all), and invariably stops at some point
before "100%" with the error message, "Publisher cannot complete the
operation." It gives me no more information than that.

I JUST used a template last night to create a newsletter, and it worked
flawlessly. I didn't change any program parameters or anything. I just
opened the template, changed the text and some pictures, and chose "Save
As."
That's it. I didn't fiddle with anything.

It WILL open PREVIOUSLY-CREATED documents correctly, though. It seems to
have just gone on strike from last night forth.

Has anyone any experience with this and, if so, does anyone know a fix for
this? I'd be even more interested in probable causes! That might help me
if
this should happen again in the future.

Thanks!
Jayson

Try uninstalling any recent Office Updates. If that doesn't work, try some
recent Microsoft Updates. They can always be reinstalled but I thought I saw
somewhere in here (wish I could remember where) that a user tried that and it
was the culprit. This could also explain why it is suddenly occurring. Good
luck Post back here to see if it worked.

Default "Publisher cannot complete the operation" error message

Hey guys, I think I found a fix for this problem. I did a Google
search and came across this KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928890/en-us,
I followed the instructions for WIN XP and problem solved.
