Help, please: Outlook 2003 PST file full (2Gb)
I can'r send/Receive mail. I can't delete messages from the "Sent" file. When
I try to do so, I am getting a pop up meddage 9error?) saying something to the fact that the PST file is full and that I need to delete some items. However, the system doesn't allow me to access the file in order to accomplish it. How can I proceed. Right now I am deas in the water.... Thank you, Ed

Hi Oliver,
Well I tried, and failed. I followed the instructions to the letter: Extracted the pst2gb.exe file, selected the oversized file location. I then created a name and location for the truncated file and saved it. Then I pressed Start and received the following message: "The program encountered problems. Check the file names and try again." I tried different file names and different locations with the same result... I can't figure out what's wrong. at first another website with further (more) information: http://www.slipstick.com/problems/repair2gbpst.asp If you can open the PSt file, you can try to delete emails with "Shift+Delete". This will delete the emails direcly and do not move this into the "Deleted items" folder. Try to delete single emails, with big attachments (where you know the sender, so he could send it to you again) . Thats because its designed to work on a ansi, pre 2003, data file and you

Actually he's using a unicode pst, according to properties of the Personal
folders ie The format shows as 'Personal folders' wheras as I understand it an ansi file would show as 'Personal Folders 97 -2002' He further stated this was a clean installation of OL2003, and not an upgrade of an earlier version or data file. 1) How can I change, or tell, one from the other (Unicode PST, or not?) 2) As to the present problem, I sort of resolved it with the suggestion of someone to just go ahead and change my mail profile. Then, transfer only the mist important files (Contacts, Calander, Tasks.) Since the problem was an excessive size of "Sent" mail, the problem was resolved. I was also led to believe that if Icreate a new profile in Outlook 2003, the new one would be a Unicode PST. However, as I said above, I don't know how to tell one from the other.
