Default Outlook not connecting

Hello:

I am using Outlook 2003 with Windows XP. I changed from dial up to cable
internet. I have not used Outlook in the past but I want to use it now.

It will not send messages or pull messages from my other accounts such as my
Hotmail account. The problem may be that it is looking for my dial up
connection. I have been looking at all the tabs and dialogue boxes but I
cannot see how to change the dial up setting. I also see it pointing to a
Hotmail URL that is grayed out.

How do I get Outlook to recognize my cable modem?

Thank you

BZ

You have to change the connection settings in the Accounts from dial up to
LAN
NB Unless you have a paid for Hotmail account its not available in OL, as is
probably some other web providers

It is set to LAN. also: I am getting this confusing message.

'Task 'Hotmail - Sending' reported error (0x800CCCF6) : 'The server
responded 'Access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook Express now requires a
subscription. Please sign up at http://join.msn.com/general/Email'. '

I AM subscribed to Hotmail Live. I tried "detect and repair" and checked for
updates.

In the "accounts" section there is a setting for MSN and for Hotmail. I
tried each with no results.

A standard account, not a paid for account

You cannot connect to a free Hotmail account with Outlook Express. You can
connect to a free Hotmail account with Outlook only if the account is a
WIndows Live account and you are using the most recent Outlook Connector.

I do have a windows Live Account. Perhaps I don't have the latest connector.
Can you give me the URL for that download?

A simply microsoft.com search will find it for you.
