Default Outlook 2003 and Vista

When I try to send/retrive e-mail I get "Operation could not be completed.
An object could not be found". Does that help find the solution?

Boot the PC into Safe Mode, retest outlook.
If it functions, then a background app/process is causing the problem - Anti
Virus or other scanning software?

Yes I did try that the other day as well, but got the same results.

Tried a new Outlook Profile yet? (Do not copy the Profile)

Tried that too but I still get the "unable to complete this operation
due
to
unknown external error.

You may have to use the full path in the run command
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Outlook.exe " /safe

Amend as appropriate

Thanks for the attempt. I did add the space this time.
Unfortunately
I
still get the unknown external error message. Next idea, please.

At start menu, Run, type
outlook.exe /safe

If Outlook runs ok then the problem is a config file or add-in.

When I am asked if I want to open using BCM, I say no and I
get a
"unknown
external error". If I say yes I get "unknown external
error".

You start outlook, and receive an err msg?

I am frustrated by my inability to get Outlook 2003 to
work
on
my
new
computer. I have tried so many things and read many of
these
community
postings. When I try to open Outlook, either with or
without
BCM,
it
says
it
has an external error. When I try to open (through
File/Open)
my
archive
file from my old computer, it says the program must shut
down.
Does
anyone
have any suggestions? I am out of ideas to try. Yes I
tried
unistalling
and
re-installing. I also tried repair. I have loaded
Service
packs
1-4.
