How to prevent auto-move of existing objects when inserting/copying new objects?
It occurs often that I mark an existing object on a drawing, then copy it to clipboard
and afterwards insert the copy again. Unfortuantely the copy is always inserted somewhere around the center of the paper and (that is the problem) shifts all already existing objects at this position to other parts of the drawing. How can I prevent this auto-shift? Even better: How can I tell Visio approx.where to insert the new copy from clipboard? Leslie |

How to prevent auto-move of existing objects when inserting/copyin
May be, there is no easy way.
Unfortunately, it is long unchanged. I believe many people hope it is reviewed in the near future. -- JuneTheSecond Now, visual calculation is more visual. http://www.geocities.jp/visualcalcul...ish/index.html |

How to prevent auto-move of existing objects when inserting/copyin
Is this a particular style of drawing, e.g., org chart?
There are a couple of things to check: 1.) File Page Setup Layout and Routing: make sure that Move shapes on drop is NOT checked. Unfortunately, I've never had this option work reliably. 2.) Before you copy the object, open it's shapesheet (menu bar Windows), go to the Miscellaneous section and make sure that ObjType is "0" (no quotes). Setting this to "1", with suggestion 1) above, tends to make the objects move apart.
