Default Functional Band

Hi All,

I am using Visio to do cross functional processes. I have a diagram where I
want to add another Functional Band. When I drag and drop a functional band
onto my diagram, all the other functional bands reorder themselves. Why does
Visio do this and how do I stop it from reordering the functional bands?

Thanks. Greg

Default Functional Band

This solution is designed to work like this. The “automated events” in Visio
allows certain actions to be done automatically such as reordering bans when
dropped on the page. It will resize and align the new band so it fits
properly on the page. I am not sure why you would want to stop this action
since you can drop the band before or after bans that are already on the
page. If this did not work then you would have a broken drawing or the
automation for Visio would be turn off. If you want to disable this you can
go to tools, options, advanced and uncheck the “Enable Automation events”.
However I do not recommend this action because this turns off all automation
for Visio drawings until you place a check in this box.

If you drop the new functional band at the end/bottom of the page then
that's where the new band should appear. Similarly, if you drop the
new band in the middle of the page then the other bands will move to
make way for it and it will be inserted where you drop the band.
Are you seeing behaviour other than this?

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the response.

Yes, I am seeing other behaviour. What you have described is what I am
trying to do but when I drop a band in the middle of other bands (or even at
the end) all the other bands arrange themselves in what appears to be the
reverse order.

Thanks. Greg
