I would like to put the chart in the "background" such that worksheet cells
and their contents are also displayed and the chart is also visible. Can
this be done? If fo, please help.

Hi,

You can not put the chart behind the cells.

What you might be able to do though is make the chart area None so that
cells below the chart can be seen through the chart area when the chart
is not selected.
Or you could just move and size your chart so it does not cover the cells.

Cheers
Andy

You can put the chart in the background. Create the chart, save the chart as
a graphic image. Choose File, Page Setup, Custom Header, in the left header
click the Insert Picture button and find your chart.

In effect this is a watermark, which I believe Microsft says can't be done
in Excel.

Hello Mr. Pope:

I tried your suggestion and it worked perfectly. Of course, in hindsight,
as always, it seems the perfectly logical thing to do. Thanks very much

Mr. Devenshi

I tired your suggestion and it does work. However, I prefer to use the
solution given my Mr. Pope, the other responder to my question. Thanks for
your help.
