Default align numbers by decimal point

I have a table with a column of numbers with different amounts of decimal
places, some of which have footnotes. I would like to align them by their
decimal places, but since the number of figures before & after their decimal
places are not consistent, I cannot figure out a way to do this. Is there a
way to align by an assigned character?

Default align numbers by decimal point

Insert a Decimal Tab in the column of the table at the position that you
want the decimal points to be aligned.
