Record 1 contained too few data fields: Can someone tell me what this mail merge related error message is? Usually, it would mean that there aren't the same number of fields in each record in the data source. It would help to know - version of Word - type of data source (delimited text file, Excel, Access, other) I'd usually expect this to pop up when using a delimited text file as the data source. If this is the case for you, what are you using as the field and record delimiters? And is the data for each field contained in "quotes" or 'quotes'? If you are using Word for both your main doc and your data source, go to the data source document. Add borders so that you can see the cells of the table. The second row will have one less column than the first. Use the menu at the top (not the shortcut menu) and insert a column to the right of the last cell in the row. Save. The error should be gone.
