Tables Becoming Headers???
Word 2000, Win 2000
On a page with a table in the body text (different types, shadings, etc., doesn't seem to matter): 1. I click View=Header and Footer. The header displays and the body text, including that in the table(s) grays out. 2. I click Close in the Header and Footer dialog to return to the body text. The text in the table(s) remains grayed out (invisible in tables with any background shading). I can't select table text with the mouse, although I can scroll into the table and select text that way. If I double-click in a table cell, the Header and Footer dialog opens and the cursor goes into the header. I can't select the table from this view, so it hasn't become part of the header (although it kind of acts as if it has). The table remains grayed out until I do something strange like move the table. Graphic objects also gray out and remain so, but double-clicking them brings up the Format Objects dialog as usual. I've never seen this sort of thing before. Anybody know what's going on? And, should I be worried about it? |

Tables Becoming Headers???
There are some document layouts I use that are very prone to this. It's not
consistent, but seems most common when the table immediately follows the header. As you say, you can't click in the table; but you can use the arrow keys to move the cursor into it, and once there, any action seems to clear the problem, as does switching views. It's obviously a display bug. As far as I can tell it's not harmful. "Jerry" wrote in message ...
