Default Really dumb question

In my contacts folder (Outlook 2003) I have contacts with 2 different icons.
One type is the standard icon that looks like a little business card. The
other type is the same little business card, but also has a little circle in
the lowerright corner of the business card ... kind of resembles a little
clock. I don't use any special forms (at least not that I know of). Most of
my contacts have the little 'clock' in the lower right corner of the business
card. The contacts without the 'clock' are my more recent additions.

Most likely you created some of these Contacts in earlier versions of
Outlook.

Thanks, Russ.

Don't think so. All of the contacts that don't have the little extra circle
thingie in the lower right corner are very recent creations ... within the
last month. Many of the contacts that have the little extra circle thingie
are also fairly recent ... within the past year. I've been using OL 2003
since it came out.

Just figured out that the little circle thingie is the 'Outlook' lable. But
I don't know why it's there on some contacts and not there on others ...
escpecially since the creation time frame doesn't seem to matter.

I just modfied my 'View' in tmy my Contacts to add the Creation Date, then I
sorted by the creation date. I see that any contact created after April 18th
2005 does not have the little circle thingie. Any contact created before
4/18 HAS the little circle thingie.

I hope you're not putting too high a priority on this, Russ, since this
doesn't seem to have any effect in Outlook's performance.

I've only seen the older icon in Contacts that were originally created in
Outlook 2000 or earlier. Are you certain that all of your Contacts were
created from scratch only in Outlook 2003?

All created in Outlook 2003? Oh gosh no. Most are less than a year old, but
some date back to the origninal Outlook (Office 95?). Funny thing is,
everything odler than 4/18/05 has the outlook thingie. Everything after 4/18
does not have the outlook thingie. Which one is the 'New' icon?

Like I say, not that big of a deal, since there isn't a performance problem.

The one that looks more like a Rolodex card is the old one.

Uh Oh. If the 'old' icon is the one without the little Outlook circle in the
lower right corner, then I've got a problem. As of right now, any contact I
create uses the old icon. Even if I create a new contact from an existing
contact that has the new icon, (Actions / New Contact from Same Company) I
stil get the old icon.

I've tried going into Control Panel and repairing Office, but this didn't
fix the problem. Any suggestions?

I don't think you have a problem at all. Most likely we aren't understanding
each other as to the format of the icon.
This is a non-issue.

Hmmm. Indulge me just a bit longer, Russ. I think I understand that the
'old' contact icon resembles a rolodex card. And that the 'new' contact icon
resembles a rolodex card, but also has a little 'Outlook' circle icon in its
lower right corner. My Outlook 2003 contacts all carry the 'new' icon execpt
those crated after 4/18/05, which all carry the 'old' icon. I don't
understand why newly created Outlook 2003 contacts carry the old Contact
icon. I'm just trying to understand why. Can you explain this to me?
