Default Prompt for templates

I'm new to MS Word (2007). In WordPerfect while creating a template, I could create a prompt. When that template was opened, a drop down box would appear in which you filled in whatever information asked for such as Name, Address or whatever info you needed. When you clicked OK, it would fill the necessary information in the appropiate place. If in the document you had three places the name was used it would place that info appropiatly. Does Word have such a resource and if so, what is it called or, is there a tutorial for such? Thanks in advance.
Bud
