Cursor slow

When I am typing in Word or Outlook Email, the cursor moves slower than
normal and I can't see few words I type until it catches up. same happens
while deleting and as I press delete, the line does not delete immediately
and it deletes with few mili seconds delay.

Have I downloaded spyware/virus which is hijacking my cursor or is it a
memor issue as I just upgraded to 512 MB from 256
