AOL and Outlook 2002
I use AOL dial-up and have it connected while using Outllook. I have configured Outlook according to AOL's instructions. When retrieving mail from AOL I get an error: 'Unable to connect to the server'. My outgoing mail is sent just fine. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Jeff |

Do you have the proper inbound server name? Check it for spaces and typos.

and you created an IMAP account type?
Try making a fresh new profile (control panel, mail applet) and see if it works. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Coauthor, OneNote 2003 for Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) Author, Google and Other Search Engines (Visual QuickStart Guide) Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com OneNote Tips: "Jeff Cundiff" wrote in message news The inbound server address appears to be correct. AOL and Outlook 2002
I reconfigured Outlook iaw with AOL.help article #217454 ('How do I use Outlook 2002 to read and send AOL e-mail?'). I still have the same error (0x800CCC0E) 'Unable to connect to server'.
When configuring this account, under 'More settings'/'Connections'/ I selected 'Connect using my phone line'. If I am already connected via AOL while using Outlook, would this setting need to be different???? Jeff |

that setting has nothing to do with the error... are you using firewall
software? -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Coauthor, OneNote 2003 for Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) Author, Google and Other Search Engines (Visual QuickStart Guide) Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com OneNote Tips: "Jeff Cundiff" wrote in message ... I switched to the LAN setting and now I get a window asking for my username and password that keeps coming up even after I click OK.
