OL 2007 birthdays occurs every 12 years
This is on Vista. I am syncing to window mobile 6.1. Birthdays (almost all)
are showing as occuring every 12 years on the Vista machine -- not on the handheld! -- Robert Tankersley CDP |

OL 2007 birthdays occurs every 12 years
Outlook 2007 now supports both monthly (every xx months) and yearly (every
xx years) recurrences and it sounds like the sync software is mapping every 12 months on the device to every 12 yrs in Outlook. Which device created the birthdays? Try making them on the other device and see if it works ok. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: Do you keep Outlook open 24/7? The originals were on the Vista machine. They were correct [as far as I can
know]. I installed a new hardware update to the handheld yesterday. This required me to sync. After the sync they were every 12 years. I changed a few on Vista and did a sync. That fixed it on the hand held but changed them to every 12 years on the Vista [OL 2007). This is truly frustrating. -- Robert Tankersley CDP "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote: Outlook 2007 now supports both monthly (every xx months) and yearly (every xx years) recurrences and it sounds like the sync software is mapping every 12 months on the device to every 12 yrs in Outlook. Did you check the mobile device group? It sounds like a bug in the update.
This link will get you pointed in the right direction but the winmobile group might be a better option. http://www.microsoft.com/communities...c.activesy nc -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: Do you keep Outlook open 24/7? As an FYI, this is apparently a bug in the mobile update and Microsoft is
aware of it. I believe a later update fixed it for some people but not others. The guys in the pocket pc forum should be able to give you more information on the problem and let you know if any fixes are available. -- "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote in message ... OL 2007 birthdays occurs every 12 years
Diane; Thanks for reply.
Here is what I have found. The birthdays were keyed on the Vista machine. When they are synced with the handheld they are transferred correctly -- that is they appear as occuring each year. On the next sync the ones on Vista are changed to every 12 years. additional syncs do not change either the handheld or the Vista machine. This has destroyed a tremendous amount of work that I have accumulated over many years. [I have hundreds of birthdays!]. I was not able to find a reference to the MS update you referred to nor any similar forum entry. -- Robert Tankersley CDP "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote: As an FYI, this is apparently a bug in the mobile update and Microsoft is aware of it. I asked some people with knowledge of the problem so its not published in a
KB (yet) or in any other official source. What I've found from various sources is that its related to no end date set - if you set an end date on the items they should be ok going forward. (I use a blackberry so I can't verify it.) -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: Do you keep Outlook open 24/7? every 12 years
Diane,
The ethical thing for Microsoft to do at this point is to assign a team to determine how to help customers recover. My guess is that it will require creating a utility to search the current calendar, archives and backups for corrupted records, or ones that were deleted after being changed to 12-year recurrences, on all synced systems, and suggest a mitigation for each one to the user. Are you a Microsoft employee? No, I'm not an employee - MVPs are just users who volunteer to help other
users. Microsoft may very well be working on something, I don't know and they don't tell me until they release it. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: Do you keep Outlook open 24/7?
