Troubleshooting Visio settings/installation - help!
At work I have a dual-core laptop with 1GB ram running XP, with McAfee,
Office2003, and Visio2007[standard] installed (among other things). When using visio, the machine crawls. If I have an orgchart and re-layout the shapes under one manager, it takes at least 40 seconds. multiple managers can take several minutes. In comparison, I have a test box running a virtual machine, which is running a technet license of XP on one core, with 1 GB ram, with Office2003 and Visio2007[pro] installed specifically to troubleshoot this problem. The same re-layout action on the same file takes 2-3 seconds, tops. Other office programs on this laptop seem totally normally responsive, but Visio is a big problem. Are there any good visio troubleshooting guides available, or any critical settings I should check? Thank you, Keith |

Troubleshooting Visio settings/installation - help!
Make sure you have the latest service pack for Visio 2007. Verify you have
the latest video driver for your computer based on the operating system and video card. You could set the computer up for a selective startup to see if there is another application competing for resources with Visio. Use msconfig and go to the startup tab, uncheck non essential applications then restart the box and work with Visio. You might need to do this a few times in order to determine the exact application if there is a conflict for resources.
