Default outlook cannot connect to outgoing e-mail server

my outlook has been working for ever. Suddenly last night it cannot connect
to the outgoing mail server. All the connections are correct and what they've
always been. I've removed the account settings and added them again as well
as restarting outlook an the computer. It says outlook cannot connect to my
outgoing smtp email server. Would appreciate a response.

Did you check with your ISP about the possibility that their service might be down
for some reason.
Usually when this happens al of a sudden then most of the time it is because of the
above. Just need to wait and ride it out if the latter is the case.

Default outlook cannot connect to outgoing e-mail server

having the exact same problem. Was working fine until a MS update installed
and rebooted system around 930am on Saturday morning. Outlook still not
working with XP but working ok with 2003 OS. Have restored to earlier date,
have reinstalled Outlook. Still no luck. Could use some help!

I have been seeing this too. Running all of the windows and office updated has fixed it for me. In one case, microsoft actually updated again the next day and fixed it.
