Read Only - where has it gone ??
I have a password protected powerpoint 2003 presentation that has been saved
as a .pps. The show works perfectly IF i am logged on as an administrator - BUT when I log on as a limited user in a domain then the show opens and gives me the choice to enter the password or cancel. There is no open as 'Read Only' option which I get as an administrator. I have burnt the .pps to a Cd and downloaded the 2003 viewer but the same happens. Any one come acroos this before? |

Yes, I have the same problem as you mentioned, so fast no one have shed any
light on this issue. I tried some tests and found that even with correct password input to the dialogue box, the ppt/pps files won't open. If you are not a domain user with a local profile, you'll see the read only button again. So when you are a domain user with a roaming profile, the " read only button" gone and only left with password prompt and cancel button. It happens with PowerPoint viewer 2007 and 2003, so I guess it is MS office bug and will any MS Office develop team give some hints on this issue? "Powerpoint newsgroup" wrote in message ... Ok I have a little more info on this problem now. But no solution I'm afraid. The problem happens when a user picks up a mandatory roaming profile (.Man). If the profile is a .DAT then the problem does not happen. The problem being that a password protected PPT or PPS will not open. Looks like a bug in powerpoint as it happens to the free viewer as well. I can't get support from M$ without paying. So I'm hoping someone out there can have a word with the M$ $ffice bods on my behalf, or one of them reads this. Dave |
