Default "not enough space on the temp disk"

Access query fails saying out of temp space

running a query that will create an Excel spreadsheet of 17,000 lines or so.
However, after about 20 minutes, it fails saying that there is not enough
space on the temp disk.with over 20 gig of free space and 2 gig of physical
memory with a 2 gig swap file. Neither is filling up. The size of the temp
file (JETDD3B.TMP) located in c:\Documents and settings\EXNPX\Local
Settings\Temp continually increments. The last size of the file is around
510meg just before it fails. I am guessing that it may be a limitation of
Access since it's so close to the 512 threshhold?

Does anyone out there have any ideas how I can correct this problem? Any
advise? Thanks
