Default Office 2000: "This Package Could Not Be Opened."

Had a registry crash, restored it, but now no Office 2000
files will work. When I click on a program icon, I
get "This patch package could not be opened. Contact the
application vendor to verify that it is a valid Windows
Installer patch package."

I can't Repair, I can't Reinstall, I can't Remove, and I
can't read any of my files!!

Mrs Harris,
Have a look at this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=295823
Likely that there are left over installation files from your previous
install that are conflicting and causing your errors. Before you do anything
backup your files...
Hope this helps.

Chris,

I'd already tried that.

Actually, reinstalling all the Windows 2K patches fixed it.

Thanks anyway.
